About Us

We are a friendly and welcoming band situated within the Craven area of the famous Yorkshire Dales. You will find us in the market town of Settle. We play a wide variety of entertaining music; traditional, classical and new pop to keep up with young ages. We entertain audiences at public and private events like concerts, weddings, church services and more. ​ Our musicians are talented and enthusiastic and we encourage others who wish to enjoy playing to come and join us. We rehearse the Settle Conservative Club on Station Road from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and we like to enjoy a social drink afterwards. ​ Giggleswick & Settle Brass Band was formed in 1952 when the two brass bands, Settle and Giggleswick, amalgamated. Long before this, the first recorded event of Settle band was August 10th, 1854 at the North Craven Horticultural Society Flower Show, however, it is thought that the band was in existence for many years before this date. During its time it has been a town band, a temperance band and a military band. Bands also used to exist in Austwick, Ingleton and Bentham and players from these bands eventually became members of Giggleswick & Settle. ​ Now, under the baton of the inspiring Kevin Maltby, the band has not only survived the recent pandemic but is thriving with an influx of new faces and an amazing portfolio of music to suit all tastes as well as recently celebrating our 70th anniversary in 2022.
